BRIDGES – lost connection between the reality and the world of technology
Bridges have a practical use – they link A to B. There’s something fascinating about bridges. They also represent incredible accomplishments of engineering and design. Bridges are also providing inspiration in the arts.
Social media allows people to interact with each other. This internet service can increase happiness. It is free for everyone and opportunities are limitless. One question is left unanswered: “Is social media good or bad?”
Social media (the internet as a whole) is what you make of it.
Like many other different things in life there are benefits of using social media and at the same time disadvantages.
Negative feedback, lack of privacy and new way of human interactions – all those simple things have quite a strong impact at our new reality.
New way of human-interactions enabled by technology creates many possibilities. We can communicate with people around the whole globe. We CAN… a lot..
At the same time we CANNOT a lot because… The list of reasons is long. Some people will tell us that our list of reasons “why not?” is a list of our excuses “why not”. I disagree. How many times do we hear “noises”, which are encouraging, supportive, promising and they are promising “better reality”. We can compare our lifestyle to different lifestyles.
Yes, it was always this way. 100 years ago as well…with one single detail: it was invisible. Guests from the movie “Titanic” could see a gap in a way how people can live, spend time and enjoy the company of others. As a second example I will give a title “Coco before Chanel”. Similar way of “lifestyles” like in a movie “Titanic”.
Nowadays we don’t need a buy a ticket to be a part of journey at metaphorically “Titanic”, we don’t need this cost. We don’t need this effort to see a difference. We can check out Instagram and find out the way to ILLUSION. Idealism, exhibition, perfectionism… and more. Did we ask ourselves how many misunderstandings does our activity on social media creates each day?
It is scientifically proven that looking through a window increases a lack ability to focus. Are we focused sitting in a restaurant waiting at our dinner? Are we hear and now? Or are we with thoughts somewhere else with curiosity awaiting the most convenient moment to put our hands on our phone and “eat” news from digital reality first. Sometimes when finally a dinner arrives we are not hungry anymore. Is it true? It is. The issue is we are losing a focus with full awareness. The next topic would be suggested how to use social media without losing a focus and productivity? I think with the amount of questions we create an amount of answers.
There we have so called “good answers”, which are temporarily helpful. They are working for a while. They are containing an advice. The next question: “How long?” In the reality, which is changing each single day… In the reality of uncertainty we have to try to adjust. Fast adjustment can bring stress on board. However sometimes we have to face it.
Do we have a different choice? Are we able to switch off our phones for one week? I don’t think so. We will get bunch of messages with questions if something happens, “Is everything ok? I try to call you.” This is a way to awareness that we are all trapped. TOGETHER. We are all connected here. Our brains have to much to work on each single day. There and here. Did we notice that most of “there” are not longer present moments? Someone posted a picture, a selfie one week ago – we look at this picture and we feel the presence of new “update” before we will learn when the picture was posted. It is a memory. It can be a beautiful selfie, beautiful memory of the presence one week ago. We sit and we think that nothing changed. We may thing that if someone had a smile on the face… seven days later nothing changed. We can assume, we can be curious but we really do not know. We know something, we assume a truth but we do not know the truth. So how we deal with the issue that what do we have “now” is the only way there is? There are memories, of course. Some of them are impossible to erase from a memory, some of them are too beautiful and impossible to forget. Is a detox from social media a final remedy? Do we need this extreme? The answer is: Yes and No. What do we need is a better balance because honestly we ALL are LOST somewhere at some point of our lives in our 21st Century of limited opportunities. However predictions of Nostradamus are not longer available for 21st Century.
